Movie Confessions

Today’s entry is inspired by a conversation I had with several co-workers the other day during some down time at work.

Lately, I’ve been trying to catch up on movies I’ve missed, and have visited movie theaters more often than usual because so many good films have come out (and are still coming) this year.

Despite my game of playing catch up, there are still a ton of the “classic quotables” (as I call them) that I’ve yet to see. Some of the ones on the list, I’m a little embarrassed to admit never having watched, as nearly everyone I’ve ever met swears up and down how great some of these movies are. Most are a little older, but some are more recent (I think I’ve seen several of the newer ones, but need to re-watch them, as apparently I missed a lot the first time).

I had one of my co-workers make me a list of the ones I need to try watching as soon as possible, so my new goal is to get this list completed soon.

For some of the movies, I’ll probably be able to watch them on Netflix, but for others I may need to schedule a movie night or try borrowing from friends who own copies of the more obscure ones.

So, without further ado, here’s the short list of what I’ve been assigned to see ASAP:

The Notebook (sadly, a copy of this exists in the house, but I haven’t taken the time to watch it)

Superbad (I think I fell asleep when I rented this one before)

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Dirty Dancing (I’ve never watched this the whole way through)

Sixteen Candles

Breakfast Club (have only watched sections, and always edited as it was on tv)

Pretty in Pink

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Anchorman (the most embarrassing to admit not remembering well, as I usually love Will Ferrell movies and for some reason missed a good portion of this one)

The entire list is much longer, but this is just the “watch right now!” list. Even with an abbreviated list, it’s still quite a daunting goal to achieve but I think it’s doable.

I am also open to more suggestions of ones I need to see that I may have missed out on, and will probably be recruiting friends to help keep me on goal (and awake) when trying to play this game of catch-up. Feel free to add to the list, since apparently I’ve missed out on a lot over the years.

Luckily, I have the next couple of weekends off work, so can probably get a few out of the way pretty soon. 🙂

I own most of the movies on the this list. It would be hypocritical of me to assign you these movies and not have them on hand 🙂

  2. […] are several other classic films I missed out on and listed a few months back, but I’ve decided to push all of those to the bottom of my to-watch list […]
