A Few of My Favorite Blogs

Everyday, one of the first things I do after checking my email and Facebook for new messages is to meander over to my trusty reader and see what new entries have been posted in the various blogs I’ve started following.

Mixed in amongst the techie ones I’ve been aware of and have read daily for the last 5 years or so, are a handful of personal blogs that I have added to my list.

Some are written by people I know in real life, while others are complete strangers who have written things that were meaningful enough for me to bookmark their blogs to see what else they might have to say/write about. Not all of them post something new every single day, so when I see new additions from these people, I get excited and put all of the other readings on hold to read their latest posts.

Two blogs that have really stood out lately to me are written by women I kind of know (one is a childhood friend who now lives on the West Coast, and the other is a former classmate from college), but would put them into the category of “Facebook friends.” Despite the fact that I have limited contact with either of these women, I love being able to read the snippets of their lives that are shared on each of their respective blogs.

One of my childhood friends, Tiffany, writes a very uplifting “Mommy blog,” that is worth checking out even if you aren’t a parent yourself. She recently shared a “birth story,” which had me hooked until the end, and wanting to go back to read other entries she’s written in the past. Being able to see how a little girl who used to giggle and swoon over the latest edition of Tiger Beat has become this amazing woman who isn’t afraid to share her faith and thoughts with the world is truly inspiring to me.

My former classmate has a really informative blog, chronicling the journey she and her husband are on, while they go through the process of adopting a child from Ethiopia. They are still waiting to be matched, so I always look forward to hear the latest news and hope that soon they will get the news they have been wait a long time for. One of the more recent posts is definitely worth sharing and reading, as it really made me think about the struggles this couple faces.

Outside of these two blogs, I guess it could be worth mentioning my blogging “mentor’s” blog, even though I think it goes without saying that I’m always eager to see what new or clever idea Jamey has presented to the world for open discussion.

And, a new addition that is just getting its feet off the ground is my big sister’s very own blog. So far she only has two entries, but I was laughing out loud at her latest entry. If you’re in need of a little humor, check it out (and I recommend bookmarking it since I’m sure this is on the tip of the iceberg).

I could keep going, with links to a fitness blog (for the “lazy girl”), my friend Chelly’s blog, or a relationship issues blog that I always find something to take away after reading, but I think I’ve given a pretty good “short list” of some of my favorites. And I somehow forgot to include a really good gamer/nerd blog on my original list, but it’s definitely worth reading as well, as I really enjoy reading about the different projects/games being reviewed and about the personal fitness goals/achievements shared by Joe.

What are some of your favorite blogs to read? Feel free to leave links in the comments, and I’ll check them out. 🙂

Pretty Sneaky, Sis might be worth mention if the guy who ran the place wasn’t such a pompous blowhard and he actually updated with more regularity. What a jerk.

My bad Joe, Pretty Sneaky Sis completely slipped my mind, but should have definitely been included on my list. I’ll go back and edit accordingly. 🙂
